The Mount Rushmore KOA is a wonderful little campsite that is located in beautiful Palmer Gulch, next to Palmer Creek and at the base of Black Elk Peak. Located just 5 miles west of Mount Rushmore, on Highway 244, the KOA offers guests numerous amounts of amenities to enjoy.

Mount Rushmore KOA Palmer Gulch Resort accommodations offer a variety of lodging options including full-service RV sites, Camping Cabins, and tent camping. Each site features amenities such as picnic tables and campfire rings.

Campgrounds typically include things like dump stations, comfort stations, and laundry facilities. Campgrounds may also have a kitchen area equipped with stove burners, sinks, and an electric grill.

The KOA campground features a variety of on-site attractions to enjoy from relaxing in the heated pools and spas to taking a horseback ride up Harney Peak, to spending some time in the water with their Splash Park by playing with water cannons and going for a cruise down their 180-foot waterslide. There are also miniature golf courses available, as well as bike rentals so campers can explore more of the area.

How To Get There

To get to Mount Rushmore KOA at Palmer Gulch Resort follow these directions: To get there from I-90, take exit 61 and head west on Highway16. Follow Highway 16 for 25 miles until you reach Hill City. Continue on Hwy 16/385 for 3 miles before turning left back onto Hwy 244. Take this road for 3.5 miles until you see the Mt. Rushmore KOA sign.
