One of the great things about this campground is the variety of camping areas it offers. These different types of campsites come with their own unique amenities and benefits and can be rented for as low as $35.95 per night.

All of the Rafter J Bar Ranch camping areas provide a shower and bathroom facility, with some sites having a bathhouse and others more primitive. For example, some sites like Ranch Camp have a bathhouse whereas others like The Islands do not.

When you’re tent camping, you have the freedom to set up your camp in your own designated space. In order to optimize the experience for all campers, they ask that you do not set up a tent on the grassy areas of the sites. You are only permitted to pitch one tent at your campsite, and tents are not allowed on RV or cabin sites.

All campsites are equipped with full hookups so you can bring your necessary amenities and have a hassle-free trip. There are also two designated camping areas that permit tents. If you’re looking for an upgraded experience, cabin rentals are also available and come equipped with all the necessities like kitchens, restrooms, etc.

When it comes to activities, the Black Hills offer a wide variety of options for any type of day. You can take a long walk on one of the well-maintained, wooded trails with your canine companion. Or you can take an easy stroll on a paved trail that offers scenic views for every step you take. And with so many trails to choose from, there is something for everybody!

Hiking and biking enthusiasts can find information about trail conditions at the Rafter J Bar Ranch campground. For one of many options in the Black Hills National Forest, check out The George Mickelson Hiking & Biking Trail which offers over 100 miles of hiking trails. All hikers and bikers are permitted to explore anywhere within the Black Hills National Forest, giving them thousands of miles of trails to choose from.

Another favorite Rafter J Bar Ranch activity is fishing at one of the two nearby creeks. You will need to purchase a fishing license before you head out, but it’s worth it as fishing at Rafter J Bar Ranch is an excellent way to spend your day. Speaking of spending your day, Rafter J Bar Ranch also has basketball and volleyball courts for you to get in some exercise.

You will find the resort to be located centrally in the Black Hills, quiet, clean, and well-shaded. Scenic mountain views are found all around this modern facility. Accommodations

RV sites with electricity, water, and sewer are one of the things Rafter J Bar Ranch offers. Satellite TV hookups are available at some sites.

Cabins

Each of the traditional camping cabins can accommodate between four and six people. They are equipped with electric heaters and an electrical outlet and have access to a nearby bathhouse and laundry room. There is also a wood-fired grill for cooking, as well as a picnic table outside the cabin.

The Comfort Camping Cabins offer guests a private bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet. These cozy cabins also include a dining table, small refrigerator, Keurig coffee maker, and toaster for your convenience. For those who enjoy cooking outdoors, each cabin is equipped with a standing charcoal grill on the patio.

The Ranch Cabins are spacious double-room cabins that can accommodate up to eight people comfortably. Each cabin comes equipped with a TV and Blu-Ray player, a microwave, bathroom/shower, refrigerator, Keurig coffee maker, kitchen sink, outside gas grill and toaster, picnic table, and fire grate.

Be aware that Rafter J Bar Ranch does not provide any bedding, towels, or utensils in any of its cabins.

Traveling With Your Furry Friend?

Dogs have been welcomed to accompany their owners at Rafter J Bar Ranch since 1972, but unfortunately, there are breed restrictions. Wolf breeds, Rottweilers, Pit bulls, and Chows are not permitted to camp here. Dogs who visit the park must be supervised at all times and owners must follow park rules including cleaning up all waste.

Most cabins allow up to two dogs with an extra pet fee.

The Ranch is committed to providing all visitors with a safe and pleasant experience. Therefore, any dogs that are overly aggressive or overly loud will not be tolerated and will be asked to leave the park. They ask that owners keep control of their pets at all times in order to prevent any issues during their stay.
